What is a web based business anyway? What makes it successful? How do you make money? And lots more questions? Let's explore some answers. A web based business will be similar to one of two or three other businesses you will be familiar with, or perhaps like a little all of them combined. Within these pages you will find "ready to go businesses" that you can start in under two hours for less than two hundred dollars. You will also find a FREE REPORT providing more explanation of web based business concepts. First, a web business can be like a retail store that sells a product or service and as such, it will need a store or office. Second, it may be similar to the real estate business in that it can be set up as a mall or office building which rents space to the individual business owners above. Finally, it may be effectively a newspaper, magazine or other publication that sells advertising space. The bottom line truth is that any business must sell something and that's just what an internet business does and does so in the least expensive, most automated way possible. To look at each of these more closely, let's start with the individual store owner. The individual store owner will sell a product or service that may be of their own making or may be purchased from someone else for resale. Looking at food as an example, it goes from the producer, to the distributor, to the grocery store to your table. Along the way, there are inspectors, shippers, stockers, brokers and many other people in the profit chain. The same for automobiles, restuarant services, bowling alleys and about anything else that we buy, sell, rent or use. Collectively, this can be looked at as a vertical marketing structure. One such business you can start, using other peoples products, already set up in a store, ready to go, is demonstrated in the Internet Marketing Success Store. Another is our Online Software Store. Each time we sell a ready to go store, we make a profit and you can do the same. Once established and open, you can then locate and add additional products of your own to make your business unique and add to the profit potential. Your success will depend on how well you promote your store, the traffic you generate and of course, how much you sell. The second type business, the real estate owner, will provide a subdividable web space for rent to the "tenants". Like any facility, it must provide a good location, great promotion and tons of traffic!! If there isn't traffic through the mall, the tenants will move out and the mall will go into foreclosure, out of business. This type business takes a substantially more agressive entrepreneur and more resources to make successful. A similar but smaller scale approach would be done by starting a department store, divided into departments, with individual vendors in each department and may be the best way to get started for some people. To do that, you might start by combining two or three of the businesses offered on this page and then add more as you make your operation grow. There are many famuous stores and markets who do just this. Lexington Market in Baltimore, Maryland is one example. Almost every major city has one such open air market, a number of flea markets and so on, doing exactly this. It is a little known fact that even the large national department stores often use outsiders to provide jewelry and other specialty departments. Finally, there is the publication or advertising business. A web business who gives away free things to get people to come to their site, must be making money somehow, and they are. They can collect the names of the shoppers for a mailing list and resell them over and over. They can also post signs in their location, known as banners or links, pointing the shoppers to your retail store, and of course, they get paid for sending you the traffic. Both large and growing compamies pay to have their banners on high traffic sites just to establish and maintain name recognition. While you are out there looking the websites over, how many times do you see Federal Express, American Express and other such large companies with their "billboards" along the way. They pay huge sums for that. If you can build the traffic along your part of the highway, you can attract such advertisers, build revenue and build the market value of your business. Yes, such businesses are even sold on the stock market!! Like a newspaper or magazine, the more the readership, the more the income, the higher the advertising rates and the greater the market value of the publication.
